Amelio Joins Advanced Communications
Gilbert F. Amelio, former chief executive of Apple Computer Inc. has joined the board of directors of Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. in Irvine, and is expected eventually to become chairman and chief executive. Amelio and his management team from Beneventure Capital LLC have a consulting contract to provide management services to the company. Amelio is expected to become head of the wireless communications company when when a formal contract is completed, Advanced Communications said.

Susan Solomon has been named vice president of corporate communications and marketing at Memorial Health Services in Fountain Valley. She had been director of marketing and public relations.

Joanna Oliva has been appointed assistant treasurer for Fluor Corp. in Aliso Viejo. Before joining Fluor, Oliva was with Edison Mission Energy for 13 years and spent three years in commercial banking. She succeeds Tom Hoyer, who has been named chief financial officer of GlobEquip, one of Fluor’s newly formed E-commerce ventures. GlobEquip is headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga.

Jeff Clemens has been named senior project manager for Granite Homes in Irvine. Before joining the company, he was a community development specialist, housing coordinator and senior project manager for the Valencia Co.

Robert Turk and Manhar Rana have been named project architects for Kaufman Meeks and Partners Inc.’s Newport Beach office. Turk was most recently with McLarand Vasquez & Partners. Rana had been with Lee & Sakahara.

Samantha Dobyns has been appointed manager of Allied Business Schools Inc.’s Vocational Rehabilitation Training School. She has been with Laguna Hills-based Allied since 1998 and was previously director of education.

Anastacio Martinez has been named a principal of JBZ Architecture and Planning in Newport Beach. He joined the firm a year ago as director of operations. Patricia Towle, the firm’s controller, was promoted to associate level.

Linda Bohlinger has joined HNTB Corp. in Irvine as vice president and will assist in the development of the national rail practice. She has more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, most recently serving as executive director of the Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Bohlinger was also with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Authority for 15 years. In addition, Depika Vidyarthi has been appointed director of marketing operations for HNTB’s West division. She had been director of corporate business development services.
