Torrential Rain Kills Dozens on Java

Floods and landslides triggered by days of torrential rain have killed 45 people in the west of the Indonesian island of Java, police said.
“The landslides killed 43 on Thursday and two on Friday,” said a police official from the mountainous area of Lebak, about 50 miles from the capital, Jakarta.
The Jakarta Post daily reported that floods forced up to 18,000 people from their homes in the capital over the past two days.
