Santa’s Village Undergoing Renovation

The new owners of the Santa’s Village in Lake Arrowhead, which closed in early 1998, plan to broaden the appeal of the amusement park by adding stores and a performance venue. Thomas Plott, owner of Plott Family Care Centers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, purchased the 220-acre property last summer for $5.6 million and has been renovating a dozen or so buildings on the site. The renovations are scheduled to be completed by this summer, Plott said. He said he would like to attract other retailers as well as build a performing arts center to serve the local community. Santa’s Village, which opened in 1955, once attracted 800,000 people annually at its peak.
