The Pan African Film & Arts Festival, showcasing more than 80 films over 12 days, kicked off last week with a Hollywood gala and special screening of the new comedy “Kingdom Come.” Among guests were many of the film’s stars--including LL Cool J, Cedric the Entertainer, Vivica A. Fox, Loretta Devine, Anthony Anderson, Masasa and Richard Gant--and its director, Doug McHenry. The festival continues through Monday with screenings at the Magic Johnson Theaters and an art exhibit at the adjacent Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles. The festival, billed as the largest in the country dedicated to the exhibition of independent black films, is in its ninth year.
