Jacobs Engineering to Buy LawGibb Group

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. of Pasadena said that it signed a letter of intent to purchase the international business of LawGibb Group Inc. Terms weren’t disclosed. The acquisition is designed to help expand Jacobs’ civil engineering and transportation business overseas. Jacobs, a leader in global engineering, architecture, technology and construction, hopes to acquire several LawGibb subsidiaries under the Gibb name, the company said. Jacobs has about 20,000 employees worldwide and had sales of $3.4 billion in 2000. Privately held Gibb, headquartered in Redding, England, has sales of about $100 million last year. Jacob’s shares rose $1.02 to close at $54.82 on the New York Stock Exchange.
