Ties That Bind

* I just finished reading “Two for the Road” (Feb. 7) about cabdriver Stan Gilweit and 11-year-old Sean Putnam, and it truly brought tears of joy to my eyes. With all of the depressing news lately, what an incredible and refreshing piece to read. It is obvious to me that Stan and Sean will always hold a very special place in each other’s hearts where no other person in their lives will be able to go. Thank you for printing such a heartwarming piece and sharing this story with your readers.

Gilweit certainly sounds like an extraordinary human being, and I commend Sean’s parents for putting their trust in him to take care of Sean. See, there is a higher power that, for whatever reasons, can bring two unlikely human beings together to experience love, devotion and trust.
