Ozzy’s Better Half Is Recruiting Otep for Ozzfest

Sharon Osbourne’s no joke. The hot rockin’ mama, who joined such music industryheavies as John Kalodner, Andy Gould, Bob Cavallo and Dayle Gloria for Otep’s opening slot at the Roxy on Monday, is already talking Ozzfest for the young L.A. band. If the group wasn’t so good, even I’d think it was all just a dream. . . . Speaking of dream sequences, was I imagining it or was I kicking it with Crazy Town and Slipknot at the Las Palmas last Wednesday? Survey says: reality. And what a reality it was--me and the boyz nuzzling up to Mariah Carey, who was also in the hiz-ouse. I was slightly disappointed with the famed diva when her muscleman refused to let a fan snap a photo. When the fan turned out to be Ice-T’s wife, Darlene Ortiz, said muscleman came running to offer apologies. Ortiz’s collection of photos is legendary--from Mini-Me to Minnie Driver and Hugh Hefner in between.

Grapevine trippin’: We hear bassist Eric Wilson of the Long Beach Dub-All Stars has a tres coolio side project with Trey Pangborn (Falling Idols). . . . Checked my head at the Pretty Ugly Club for a set by the Bullet Boys last week. At least, I think it was the Bullet Boys. No one in the audience seemed to know for sure. Man, when metal dudes cut their hair, things start getting really ill. Pass the Pepto por favor.
