Singer LeAnn Rimes has purchased a home in the hills of West L.A. for just less than $2 million.

Built in the 1950s and remodeled recently, the contemporary compound is on slightly more than an acre and has a three-bedroom, 3,400-square-foot main house plus a 1,500-square-foot guest house.

The compound also has a wine cellar, a pool, a spa and canyon views. A long, gated drive leads to the home.

Rimes, 18, bought the house just before the holidays.

Earlier this month, she posted a notice on her Web site https://(www.rimestimes.com) apologizing to her fans for her new album, “I Need You.” Rimes insists the album was made without her creative input and “consists largely of unfinished material and songs that didn’t make other albums.” Rimes’ label, Curb Records, defended the album.

Rimes became the youngest person to win multiple Grammys in 1997 with her first album, “Blue,” which sold nearly 7 million copies. By 1998, with the release of “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” Rimes’ sales exceeded 21 million, establishing her as a top artist in country, pop and contemporary Christian music. Last year, she was the song performer in the movie “Coyote Ugly.”

Jazz musician Wayne Shorter and his wife, Carolina, have listed their Laurel Canyon home at about $700,000.

The saxophonist and his wife plan to move to the East Coast, where he was born and where he has performed in recent years with his longtime friend, pianist Herbie Hancock. Shorter, in his mid-60s, is a three-time Grammy winner. He also has played with such jazz greats as John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

Shorter was in Italy in 1996 when his wife of 26 years, Ana Maria, died on the ill-fated TWA Flight 800, which she had taken to join him in Europe. The saxophonist has lived in his Laurel Canyon home for 25 years.

Built in 1963, the Monterey Colonial-style house has four bedrooms in 3,000 square feet. The house also has a fireplace, two balconies and canyon views.

Chad Smith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer, has purchased a Hollywood Hills home for about $1.9 million, and he listed his former home nearby at just under $800,000.

The Spanish-style villa that he bought was built in 1929 and has five bedrooms, a media room and a den in just less than 6,800 square feet. The home also has gardens, patios and a pool. The Spanish-style house he is selling has three bedrooms in 2,800 square feet. The house, built in the ‘70s, also has a fireplace and a pool.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have had an up-and-down 17-year history, but the band won two Grammys in 1999 with the hit song “Scar Tissue” from its album “Californication.”
