Ex-Girlfriend Says Wedding Was Forced
A man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and forced her to marry him during a mass wedding ceremony in Albuquerque on Valentine’s Day, authorities said.
A criminal complaint accuses Robert Tellez, 36, of breaking into Jeanette Francia’s apartment, threatening her and her two children with an ice pick and abducting them. He then allegedly forced Francia, 26, to marry him at a civil ceremony in which about 100 couples were wed by volunteer judges.
Police seized a child’s ring, adorned with a green frog, that allegedly was used in the ceremony.
