Girl Power

You’ve got to respect a girl who’s only 111/2 inches tall and has, at her fingertips, her own itty-bitty litigation guide. “We wanted to create dolls that focused on education and achievement,” says Jennifer Fine, co-founder of L.A.-based Smartees, a line of career-oriented dolls that come with their own glossary (can you say “circumstantial evidence”?), resume and degree.

Fine says she and business partner Jennifer Hamlin devoted an inestimable amount of time figuring out what accessories their ambitious dolls need to make it big in the world, noting that there’s something wacky about a group of grown-ups huddled around a conference table peering at a PC the size of a corn chip.
