Rich Pardon Inquiry

Share

Could the congressional investigations of the donations to former President Clinton be a blessing in disguise? Does this not establish precedent to investigate all donations to politicians? Wouldn’t an aggressive environmental protection entity be able to convene a grand jury to discover why a Legislature, after receiving sizable contributions from developers, took some valuable wetland off the save list? Why have the electric companies made such large contributions to our governor and Legislature? Wouldn’t the media welcome the opportunity to help change the common belief that “we’ve got the best Congress that money can buy”?

Clinton said that there wasn’t a shred of evidence that he was involved in anything improper with his pardon of Marc Rich (Feb. 16). While that is most likely true, I’ll bet you there was quite a bit of evidence shredded.

Clinton paid back a few supporters by granting them freedom. Small potatoes! President Bush is paying his supporters with all the oil in Alaska.
