American Indifference

* Re “What’s Japan to Think of Our Wayward, Wanton Military?” Commentary, Feb. 19: Why stop there? We civilians contribute amply to our “ugly American” image as well.

We are far and away the largest contributors to global warming in the world. I do not see anything going on to abate the proliferation of SUVs and other gas guzzlers contributing so much carbon monoxide to the global atmosphere, much to the anger and frustration of nations, big and small, around the world.
