* Bowater Inc., America’s biggest producer of newsprint, said that it will cut its first-quarter production of market pulp by 30,000 metric tons, or about 12% of quarterly capacity, to adjust inventories. This will be the second consecutive quarter the company has cut back its pulp production. In October, it said it would reduce fourth-quarter production by 10%, or 25,000 metric tons, to maintain optimal inventory levels.
