Zarate, Ortiz Score in Estancia Victory

Armando Ortiz and Juan Zarate scored goals Wednesday, giving Estancia a 2-1 victory over Servite in a nonleague boys’ soccer game at Estancia.

Zarate broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half, scoring on a crossing pass from Javier Millan. Ortiz scored on a penalty kick in the first half for Estancia (7-4-2).

Servite (7-4-2) tied the score early in the second half when Chris Peterson converted a penalty kick.

In other nonleague games:

Brea Olinda 2, Bellflower St. John Bosco 0--Juan Guerrero and Danny Yezarski scored and Chris Becher had an assist as goalkeeper Mike Maynard recorded his sixth shutout for the Wildcats (14-1), the county’s 10th-ranked team. St. John Bosco is 8-8.

Los Amigos 2, Buena Park 0--Marco Montoya scored two goals in two minutes with about 10 minutes remaining on assists by Luis Perez and Alex Martinez for the Lobos (3-3).

St. Margaret’s 2, Pasadena Poly 2--Erik Hallenbeck scored in the 65th minute to salvage a tie for visiting St. Margaret’s (8-4-1). Parker Redmond scored on a free kick in the first half for the Tartans.

San Clemente 2, El Modena 0--Todd Jaramillo scored a first-half goal and Bobby Gardner scored a second half goal for visiting San Clemente (3-4-5).

No. 5 Woodbridge 3, University 1--Joe Salinas, Brandon Novoa and Amir Shafii scored first-half goals for visiting Woodbridge (13-2-2).

In the Garden Grove League:

Pacifica 1, Garden Grove 1--Pacifica’s Alex Jelev scored on a penalty kick to salvage the tie for the host Mariners (5-4-2, 0-0-1), who managed two shots on goal in the game.

Garden Grove’s Jose Nefrete scored in the first minute to put the Argonauts (0-0-1 in league) up, 1-0.

Santiago 8, Bolsa Grande 2--Angel Rivera scored three second-half goals to lead host Santiago (7-3, 1-0) to the league-opening victory. Rodrigo Bedolla scored both goals for Bolsa Grande (1-6-1, 0-1).

In the Golden West League:

Santa Ana 2, Westminster 0--Robert Pena scored in the first half on a free kick and Diego Mejia scored in the second half off a Jose Mendez assist for visiting Santa Ana (1-0, 4-3-6).
