Bloomberg News

Sprint PCS, the No. 4 U.S. wireless phone company, and Palm Inc., the No. 1 maker of electronic organizers, said they will team up to offer Internet access to users of devices running on Palm software. The two companies will initially target users who need to access e-mail, calendars and schedules while traveling for business. The Internet service will work with Palm’s organizers as well as devices based on Palm’s operating system software made by other companies such as Sony Corp. The agreement comes as both companies seek to boost sales by targeting users who want mobile Internet access and encouraging mobile phone customers to spend more time talking and surfing the Web.
