Additional Section 8 Vouchers Available
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is making an estimated 80,000 additional Section 8 rental assistance vouchers available to public housing authorities.
Demand for the vouchers is expected to still exceed the supply, so HUD will evaluate and rank applications from the states based on need.
Each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Pacific Islands will receive its “fair share” of vouchers, HUD officials said, with totals ranging from 11,176 in California to 105 in Wyoming.
The vouchers can be used toward home purchases as well as rentals.
