Applications Sought for Council Spot
The city is seeking applications from residents who want to serve on the City Council to replace Councilwoman Debra Lewis, who resigned last week.
Lewis, who served as the city’s first mayor, moved to San Diego County in December. She announced her council resignation at the first regularly scheduled meeting following her move.
Applications are available at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 30211 Avenida de las Banderas, Suite 101.
Completed applications must be submitted to the city before 4 p.m. on Jan. 18.
The Council has 30 days from the date of Lewis’ resignation to fill the vacant seat. If the position has not been filled after 30 days, the city would be required to hold a special election.
City Clerk Marsha Miller said the council will probably make a decision on whether to fill the vacancy and vote on any appointments at the Feb. 1 meeting.
