Telenetics, Comtel Sign Manufacturing Pact

Telenetics Corp., a Lake Forest designer of wireless communications products, said Tuesday that it has signed a manufacturing agreement with Comtel Electronics Inc. in Tustin. Financial details were not disclosed.

Telenetics said in a news release that the contract enables it to start producing data transmission products that it licensed two months ago from a Motorola Inc. division.

At the time of the licensing contract, Telenetics said it expected the deal with Motorola would triple its revenue this year and make Telenetics profitable for the year sooner than it had expected.

Under the agreement, all inventories, production equipment and test equipment associated with the data transmission products are being transferred to Comtel from Motorola’s existing contract manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts.

Comtel will buy the production equipment and prepay for a significant amount of the inventories from Telenetics.
