Re “Thurmond’s Son Set for U.S. Attorney Job,” Jan. 6: A U.S. attorney should be experienced, competent and qualified, with leadership and managerial abilities. Sen. Strom Thurmond wants to award the position in South Carolina to his son, who graduated from law school a mere two years ago. This appears to be a flagrant attempt to pack the Department of Justice with conservative ideologues.
