From Times Wire Reports

The son of the late French President Francois Mitterrand walked out of prison after his mother delivered his $725,000 bail three weeks after he was jailed in an inquiry into alleged illegal arms sales to Angola. Jean-Christophe Mitterrand, 54, smiled as he left La Sante prison in southern Paris, but he made no comment. His mother, Danielle Mitterrand, delivered the bail--which she called a “ransom”--at the Justice Palace. The money was raised by family and friends. The younger Mitterrand served as advisor on African affairs to his father from 1986 to 1992.
