Digital Recording Limits

Share

* I use my VCR to tape TV shows so I can watch at a more convenient time [“Digital Technologies Could Limit Recording,” Jan. 5].

Hollywood wants to prevent me from doing this? Then I won’t be able to see my shows or the commercials. As much as I dislike most commercials, I realize they pay for the shows.

Will premium services that I pay for also be encrypted to prevent recording? If I watch a “Nova,” “Nightline” or TLC program with a powerful anti-drug message, should I be forced to pay $29.95 plus shipping so I can show it to my child or his school’s principal?

The solution to protect Hollywood against piracy: Allow us to make one digital recording but not multiple copies. Without the ability to copy and watch multiple times, I don’t want or need digital. I will be the last one to give up analog.
