Clinton Pardon

Share

* Re “Talk of Pardoning Clinton Premature, Bush Says,” Jan 9: The adage “consider the source” has always served me well. Sen. Orrin Hatch and John Sununu both, coincidentally, showed up on television to recommend the pardon of President Clinton. Can William Bennett and Kenneth Starr be far behind?

A skeptic would say that the newly compassionate conservatives, under the guise of doing a favor for Clinton, are attempting to stifle the depositions and other discovery to which Clinton will be entitled if he is indicted. I agree that the country would be better off if we put the entire Clinton scandal behind us. Putting the Clinton scandal behind entails both sides backing off, and hypocritical self-righteousness does not serve this purpose.
