Share

Three local youth programs were granted $741,914 from the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board, the federally funded agency announced.

The money will be used to benefit 186 youths, ages 16 to 21, in job programs by the Santa Ana Unified School District and the Employment Development Department.

The programs are designed to provide basic education and job skills through the use of mentors, workshops and fairs.

The 35-member board was formed early last year as a governing agency under the national Work Enforcement Act. The grants, announced last week, are the board’s first use of money from the act, which funds job services.
