Late Rally Lifts Orange Coast

First-place Orange Coast shook off a 35% shooting performance and rallied to defeat Riverside, 98-96, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday.

Trailing, 80-66, in the second half, the host Pirates (14-6, 5-0) rallied behind Nick Burwell, who scored 30 points, and Chad Hagedorn, who had 28 points and 18 rebounds.

Riverside is 12-11, 3-2.

Saddleback 62, Golden West 45--Rahshaw McAfee scored 15 points and Alan Batiste scored 12, making all six of his field-goal attempts for Saddleback (20-2, 5-0), which stayed tied for first place with Orange Coast and kept Golden West (2-15, 0-5) winless in the conference.
