Irvine Sensors Corp. said Thursday that it has named Robert G. Richards president, chief executive and a director.

Richards has been interim CEO since June, when the Costa Mesa company underwent a top-level shake-up as it moved to develop and market high-tech gadgetry that it developed through years of research for the military.

Richards succeeds former CEO James Evert, who resigned in June to head Irvine Sensors’ newest subsidiary, RedHawk Vision Inc. Richards previously was president of Aerojet Electronic Systems Division.
