Police to Use Grant Funds for Equipment
The Police Department will buy weapons, bulletproof vests and other equipment, thanks to a $54,446 federal law enforcement grant received this month.
The money will help outfit officers with protective gear and provide equipment, including some video and audio supplies, for an interview room, said Lt. Sam Allevato.
Some of the money also will be spent on supplies for the department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, designed to teach children to make smart decisions when confronted with the temptation to drink alcohol or take drugs.
