Gentry Vows to Set an Example

Lamar Odom is the Clippers’ leading scorer this season against tonight’s opponent, the Seattle SuperSonics, having scored 27 and 14 points in their two meetings.

But that will not save Odom’s starting role.

Coach Alvin Gentry is expected to fine the forward and remove him from the starting lineup for missing practice Tuesday.

“We will lose every game if we have to, but we are going to learn to do things the right way,” Gentry said.

Swingman Corey Maggette, out since suffering a concussion at Atlanta Jan. 13, was cleared for non-contact practice. Maggette, who remains on the injured list, took part in conditioning and shooting drills.

With a five-day break between last Thursday’s loss to the Boston Celtics and tonight’s game, Gentry gave the Clippers Sunday off and limited Monday’s activity to conditioning drills. But Tuesday, it was back to work with a 2 1/2-hour practice.
