Portrayal of Developer’s Projects

* Re “Old-World Charm Is Developer’s Magic Touch,” Jan. 16.
Me and Pa were dee-lighted to read about how lucky we are to live in a community that is “suave” and upscale. Yup, we country folk here in Thousand Oaks are mighty lucky to be able to shop and eat European grub at the likes of Promenade and, by year’s end, take in a movie at Dee-scovery Park.
Yup, developer Rick Caruso has the finest establishments in the Conejo Valley. And just think: When Dee-scovery Park is done, we taxpayers will have paid only $12.5 million and guaranteed him only a 12% profit. Heck, a man who is giving us country folk so much suave class surely deserves more than that.
Now we don’t rightly understand the redevelopment bond Caruso got from the old City Council or what that means for our tax liability. But I’m sure pleased as punch to raise my jug to Caruso’s continued success at ridin’ high on the tax dollars of the fine people of Thousand Oaks.
Heck, what do we know anyhow?
