Accelerated Networks Expects Lower Revenue

Share

Accelerated Networks in Moorpark said it expects to report revenue for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31 in the range of $8 million to $8.2 million, which is lower than originally anticipated, and a net loss per share of 21 to 23 cents, which is greater than previously expected.

The company cited several factors that affected business in the fourth quarter, including the loss of an order from a major customer, economic conditions causing lower telecommunications spending and an overall slowdown in expansion for existing and potential customers.

Company officials said they expect these conditions to affect business in 2001 and lower total revenue for the year from earlier expectations.

“We have seen a dramatic change in market conditions affecting broad-band service companies,” said Suresh Nihalani, chief executive officer. “As we enter 2001, we intend to focus on service providers, who we believe have strong economic models and are building their broad-band infrastructure to deliver multiple, not single, services.”

A conference call to discuss the fourth-quarter results is scheduled for Thursday at 1:45 p.m. It will be available on the Internet at https://acceleratednetworks.com.
