From Times Staff and Wire Reports

An Oct. 9 preliminary hearing has been set for fired county toxicologist Kristin Rossum, 24, accused of poisoning her husband with a drug stolen from the county medical examiner’s office where she worked, court officials said Monday.

Rossum has pleaded innocent to murdering Gregory DeVillers, 26. Prosecutors allege that she killed DeVillers to keep him from telling the medical examiner that she was using methamphetamine and having an affair with her boss.

The head toxicologist, Michael Robertson, also was fired after the slaying. Police say he is a suspect and remains in his native Australia.
