Bergen Brunswig Unit, Signs Deal With Longs

Bergen Brunswig Corp. said Wednesday that its Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. subsidiary will be the exclusive distributor for about 8,000 over-the-counter health and beauty products, vitamins and dietary supplements sold online by Longs Drug Stores Corp. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bergen Brunswig, which is based in Orange, will ship the items from a distribution center in Louisville, Ky. Bergen currently supplies Longs’ stores with pharmaceuticals, Longs spokesman Tim Mehren said. Various suppliers, including Bergen Brunswig, supply the stores with general merchandise, he said.

Longs shares rose 45 cents to $20.85, while Bergen Brunswig shares fell 23 cents to $19.47. Both stocks trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
