Presumed Guilty
Re “Another Okinawa Outrage,” Commentary, July 8: Before a trial or even an indictment by the Japanese authorities, Sheila K. Johnson seems to have judged the American airman accused of raping the Okinawan woman guilty. Incredibly, she also seems to think it would be a good thing if more Okinawan women were to accuse American military men of assault or rape, whether or not an assault or rape actually occurred. I hope she is never called to jury duty.
