Youth Pleads Not Guilty in Fatal Crash

David Edward Attias pleaded not guilty Wednesday to 13 felony charges in the deaths of four people who were run down by the youth’s car Feb. 23 on an Isla Vista street. No trial date was set.
Attias, a UC Santa Barbara freshman at the time, was charged with murder, manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs.
On June 28, Attias waived his right to a preliminary hearing because of what defense attorney Jack Earley described as the defendant’s “somewhat fragile mental condition” and because he didn’t want “the families of the victims to go through a hearing that is not what is the main issue.”
