L.A. Firm Recalls 600 Baby Walkers

A California company is recalling about 600 baby walkers because they fit through doorways and don’t stop at the edge of steps, potentially leading to falls and injuries.

SunTome Trading Corp. of Los Angeles has not received any reports of injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

The recalled baby walker is model number ST-108ST, which is printed on the box. “Q BABY” appears on the front of the walker and “Made in Taiwan” appears on the back of the seat. The walkers may be blue, pink, green, purple and white.

The walkers are packaged in boxes labeled “Baby Hand’s,” and “Comfortable pad made of TC cloth, with front and back guard.”

Stores in California, Arizona and Texas sold the walkers from January 1998 until this month for $18 to $22.

The safety commission advises consumers to stop using the walkers immediately and call the company for return and refund instructions at (888) 786-8663 between 12:30 and 9 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday.
