Watchful Eyes Beat Pool Fences

Re: “Fencing Around All Pools Urged,” June 26: Just one quick question. How is a fence or an alarm system going to save a child from drowning in a pool full of people? These protective devices are fine for unused pools. The only way to avoid these tragedies is to have adults be responsible for their children and not to assume that someone else is doing the watching.
