Other Orange County company earnings:

* Sicor Inc., an Irvine maker of generic drugs, said second-quarter net income more than doubled to $16.8 million, or 16 cents a share, from $7.7 million, or 8 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue increased 25% to $90.9 million.

* Software developer Starbase Corp. in Santa Ana said it lost $13.8 million, or 20 cents a share, for the first fiscal quarter, compared with a net loss of $3.9 million, or 9 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue increased 73% to $12.1 million.

* Ceradyne Inc., a Costa Mesa technical ceramics company, reported net income of $1.3 million, or 15 cents a share, for the second quarter, about the same as a year ago. Sales dropped 5% to $11.1 million.

* Medical device company CardioGenesis Corp. in Foothill Ranch posted a second-quarter net loss of $3 million, or 9 cents a share, slightly below its net loss of $3.3 million, or 11 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue declined 39% to $4 million.
