Park Rangers Return to Office Flooded in June

From Times Wire Reports

State park rangers returned to their office Friday for the first time since June 7, when vandals flooded it with water from a garden hose.

The flooding did $250,000 in damage to the building and wrecked an additional $100,000 in files and office materials.

“You can relate it to a burglary, that same sense of violation,” said parks district Supt. Dave Vincent. “People were dealing with the psychological aspect of this and also trying to work out of boxes.”

The vandals struck when the district, with a $6-million budget, was doing year-end reports and bracing for the tourist season. Police have made no arrests.
