From Times Staff Reports

Good weather, new attractions and a traveling “I Love Lucy” exhibit drew a record 843,347 visitors to the Orange County Fair, officials said.

Ticket revenue for the 109th annual event was up 12% from last year, officials said, despite a $1 increase to $7 in the adult admission cost.

The exhibit and museum commemorating the 50th anniversary of the “I Love Lucy” TV show played a major role in the fair’s success this year, said Becky Bailey-Findley, general manager. During the fair’s 17-day run, more than 40,000 people visited the interactive attraction.

Other popular attractions were the 150-foot Ferris wheel, La Grande Wheel, and the eight-lane Euroslide.

The fair’s one-day attendance was broken July 21, when the Demolition Derby premiered.

Bailey-Findley predicted that the derby will be back next year and that ticket prices will stay the same.
