Jackson’s Return

Share

Christian Boone must be relatively new to the Los Angles radio scene (“The Voice of Civility Is Back, With More to Say,” May 18). The only thing Michael Jackson has pioneered is style over substance, featuring his affected continental mien and Westside limousine-liberal friends agreeing with each other for four hours a day. This is hardly compelling radio.

If Jackson is such an institution, Mr. Boone, why is he working on his third comeback?

Michael Jackson’s description of KLAC’s programming as an “evolving work-in-progress” is a lovely euphemism for suggesting that the days of access to good radio music in Los Angeles are clearly numbered.

Surely, with all the available AM and FM radio outlets in this area, one station could step up to the plate and broadcast songs that are lyrical, hummable and recognizable and contain witty, elegant, funny, poignant and understandable lyrics for those of us who still enjoy singing along with the radio.
