Borders Group Inc. Vice Chairman Bruce Quinnell will retire at the end of the company’s fiscal year in January to be closer to family members in Texas.
Quinnell, 52, oversees the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company’s information-technology group, finance, real-estate development and legal departments.
The executive is the second at the company to announce his retirement this year. In March, Chairman Robert DiRomualdo, 56, said he will relinquish his post to President Greg Josefowicz, 48, at the end of this year.
The company said Quinnell plans to work part time as an advisor to start-up retail and technology companies.
Borders rose 13 cents to $19.04 on the NYSE.
