* Raytheon Co. said it plans to cut 470 more jobs at its commercial aircraft unit in Kansas because of lower-than-expected deliveries of Beechjet and King Air planes. The cuts affect hourly staff and represent 4.8% of the unit’s work force. Raytheon expects to deliver 468 jets this year, 40 fewer than forecast, the company said. Lexington, Mass.-based Raytheon said in April that it would eliminate 450 salaried positions at the commercial aircraft unit.

* Sportswear designer Quiksilver Inc. reported a 24% increase in earnings to $14 million, or 58 cents a share, for its fiscal second quarter, exactly what analysts were expecting. The Huntington Beach-based company’s sales jumped 18.3% to $168.2 million.

* Advance Publications Inc. named Lucy Danziger editor in chief of Self magazine to replace Cindi Leive, who was named editor in chief of Glamour magazine last month. Danziger was the founding editor of Women’s Sports & Fitness magazine, which closed last year, and has been running her own media consulting company.

* General Time Corp., once the country’s top maker of alarm and wall clocks under the brand names Westclox, Seth Thomas and Spartus, said it is closing its entire operation.
