Dental Care for Some Inflicts Pain on Others
- Share via
It disturbs me to read an article that once again shows sympathy for illegal immigrants, low-income families and minorities (“Living Without Dental Care,” May 30).
I am a single, female minority who works full-time, and I have no medical or dental benefits, while most illegal immigrants and their dependents qualify for monthly government checks and Medi-Cal. I don’t qualify for Medi-Cal because I have no dependents. Why punish hard-working individuals trying to succeed and maintain a healthy lifestyle but, on the flip side, condone out-of-wedlock children by compensating uneducated young women and supplying them with monthly welfare benefits?
I’m not trying to be unsympathetic, but after a while it gets frustrating. What about the hard-working U.S. citizens and taxpayers who also need dental and health care? Our tax dollars are contributing to the ongoing welfare system. Why not start helping the people who really need it? We work and deserve a break like everybody else.
