Senior Prank Results in 79 Dead Chickens
A senior prank has led to the death of 79 chickens at upscale La Costa Canyon High School, officials said Wednesday.
Dubbed “Chicken Run 2001,” the prank called for students to release the chickens on campus at night and then watch as teachers and administrators were forced to chase and catch them the next morning.
In hurling the chickens over the school’s locked gates, 19 were killed and 60 were so injured they had to be destroyed, according to the Carlsbad Police Department and the county Department of Animal Control.
School officials are considering punishment against several students at the school.
