What is the Difference Between Regular Multivitamins and Vitamins Marketed for Seniors?

Share

Not much. The main difference is that vitamins for seniors usually have decreased amounts of vitamin E and B-12, according to Dr. Donald D. Hensrud of the Mayo Clinic. Iron is decreased because older women are no longer menstruating and losing iron. Vitamin E is increased because it may protect against heart disease and improve memory and immune function. Vitamin B-12 is increased because the elderly have a lowered ability to absorb it from their food.
