MY FAVORITE WEEKEND

Vampire in Hollywood: Friday nights are usually pretty low-key for me, but sometimes I like to go up into Hollywood very late at night. I kind of bounce around. I like to go to Miyagi’s quite a bit. Skybar’s pretty cool too. I like the more laid-back places. I’m not really a club person.

Ravenous Appetite: I love to eat; that’s a real big deal to me. I don’t eat red meat or pork, but other than that I kind of like everything. Usually, I’ll eat in the Santa Monica area. I really like the Ivy. That’s really cool. And I love sushi. A good sushi bar is always going to work for me. My favorite spot is Sushi Mon, down on 5th and Wilshire. It’s a small little place, kind of homey and very intimate.

Open and Shut: I’m not really a big breakfast person, but if I do get up and go to breakfast, I’ll go to Shutters [on the Beach, Santa Monica], down by the pier. I like the food, and I like being down by the beach. That’s a huge advantage of living in California. You’re right by the water. I really enjoy that.

Going to the Dogs: I have two dogs, so we get out a lot. I’ll Rollerblade or cycle or go down to the beach and run with them--stuff like that. Saturday afternoons, that’s our time. I like to spend time hanging out with them. I get recognized all the time--you get used to it--but one of my dogs is big, so people are usually very polite.

My Favorite Mall: It’s fun to bounce around at the [Third Street] Promenade. Usually when you go to a mall, it’s closed in. At the Promenade, it’s more of a feeling of being near the beach and being outside and being healthy. It’s more L.A. to me. In most malls, it feels like it’s the middle of winter in Chicago.

A Grand Day Out: I like to go up to the very top of Westridge, off Mandeville Canyon [above Pacific Palisades]. I like riding my bicycle on the trails up there, and my dogs like running in the hills. I like to be outside, doing things.
