UC Workers Fight Higher Parking Fees
UC Santa Barbara employees are fighting a proposal that over five years would double annual parking fees to $1,104 to help pay for new campus construction. The fee increase would apply to students and employees.
“It’s almost as much as the insurance on my car,” said Denna Zamarron, a single mother of two and an undergraduate advisor in the statistics and applied probability department.
The proposal has generated more than 100 complaints from employees. Because of the outcry, the university is delaying the increase and reevaluating the amount.
