From Times Staff and Wire Reports

State forensics experts announced that they have eliminated a backlog of 200,000 unanalyzed blood samples from felons, and they expect the samples to help police solve a number of crimes.

Getting rid of the backlog was one of Atty. Gen. Bill Lockyer’s goals when he took office in 1999. The California DNA Convicted Felon Databank was to be completed by July 1 this year.
