Time Warner Begins Dodger Blackout Tonight

Beginning with tonight’s game at San Francisco, the remaining 40 Dodger telecasts on Fox Sports Net 2 will be blacked out in approximately 350,000 homes serviced by Time Warner Communications. Areas affected are the West San Fernando Valley, Orange County, South Bay, South Pasadena and the Santa Clarita Valley.

Time Warner will continue to carry Fox Sports Net 2, only not Dodger telecasts.

Of a possible settlement, Time Warner spokesman Mike Luftman said, “There have been conversations, and we expect those to continue.” But Fox Sports Net spokesman Dennis Johnson said, “There have been no discussions regarding this matter.”

Time Warner is resisting paying a monthly surcharge of 23 cents per subscriber ($2.76 per year) for 40 Dodger telecasts that were added to the Fox Sports Net 2 schedule two years ago.

Angel telecasts on Fox Sports Net in Time Warner homes will cease July 25 if the dispute continues.
