From Times Staff and Wire Reports

An auto repair shop owner faces criminal charges for allegedly swindling an insurer handling the claims of two San Fernando Valley drivers, the city attorney’s office said Wednesday.

Alfred Warren, 64, of North Hollywood, owner of Warren Auto Body, was charged Tuesday with grand theft and operating without registration, among other counts, authorities said.

The insurer, the Automobile Club of Southern California, was overcharged by more than $5,000 for repairs the shop made last year, state investigators alleged.
