Episcopal Divide

Share

Re “Move Hints at Breakaway by Conservative Episcopalians,” June 25: At one time or another, conservative Christians have been troubled by racial integration, the abandonment of sanctioned anti-Semitism and the ordination of women. Some still are. They commonly raise the threat of schism in such circumstances. All I can say about the current dispute within my (Episcopal) church is that if faith for some who call themselves Episcopalian must include bigotry and exclusion of those with different views, then I wish them well on their spiritual search for another denomination whose viewpoint may be more consistent with their own. The majority of Episcopalians in this diocese and this country have already decided where our church stands on such questions.
